red is the new black?

Okay, so it's fair to say that i'm a little afraid of colour. 98% of my wardrobe is black, grey or white, and the extra 2% i dont wear. I'm not sure what it is but i can't seem to cope with wearing bold colours as i don't like to 'stand out' in that way. I'd rather be subtly well dressed with nice fabrics and cuts, not just the girl with the yellow top. Wearing black is classic, simple, and is very chanel and ysl, which i would say is never a bad thing.

style sightings

Don't get me wrong, i don't NOT wear colour. Coloured tights i can deal with, aswell as bags and shoes. I can cope with maroon, navy and mauve. I have my comfort zone colours and i like to stick to them.
So, if you're one of those people that look at pictures and then read, your probably feeling a bit confused. Because below is my new red trench from H&M. Yes, its bright, bold, and very 'stand-out'. And i LOVE it. I think i've accepted a new colour into my palette, and the suprising thing is i wear it far more than my black coats. Perhaps this is part of a whole new era for my style?

I think it's a fabulous trench, that belts a great detail to add on the coat.
did the trench come with a different belt originally?

I have a black coat from H&M and in the winter I refuse to wear any other coat! I think the belt gives your coat a whole new feel, its amazing when one little accessory can make such a change; great idea, i wish mine had belt loops, whatever I'm still belting it!

great trench! plus, you've still paired it with black, which looks awesome.

I love colours, and definitely need to work on getting more basics into my life, so I'm the opposite and therefore biased, but I think you look amazing in red, and should do so more often!

Pretty coat! I don't think any color can replace black. But red is stunning.

I love red. But I think it might be easier to wear black because you don't have to worry about matching colors!!! School sucks. At least you guys have snow days! There is no reason for us to cancel school :(

I'm surprised at myself that I sometimes wear bold colours. I like colours, but I have a lot of non-colours in my wardrobe too. I like colours more in patterns than boldly, but I have a red 60s coat that I positively adore.
It's red with black buttons, like your trench, which I think is absolutely amazing and looks great with your black tights. I love black tights. And I've recently re-discovered all black too...
Unfortunately at the moment it's too cold for me to be wearing my red coat.
In short: Great trench! I've never seen a trench in red and it's really beautiful!
Kisses,
Cate
